1. The Playhouse Square Chandelier

The beautiful Playhouse Square Chandelier (at the intersection of East 14 Street and Euclid Avenue) is North America’s largest outdoor chandelier and one of Cleveland’s most impressive pieces of architecture ! At night, when all 62 lights are lit, it’s a dazzling attraction that should provide a sparkling background for your proposal selfies. 

2. Terminal Tower Observation Deck

The Terminal Tower may be closed most days during the pandemic, but it’s still a noteworthy location ! At 668 feet above the Cleveland sidewalks, the observation deck provides breathtaking 360-degree views of the surrounding region. From that high up, you can see Lake Erie, the sports stadiums, the Cuyahoga River, and your fiancée’s smile as you ask them to marry you !

3. Squire’s Castle

Located 20 miles outside of Downtown Cleveland in Willoughby Hills, Squire’s Castle is a beautiful backdrop to your proposal during any season ! In the winter, the North Chagrin offers pristine snow-covered vistas, the spring and summer months deliver vibrant colors, and the fall season creates lush yellows, oranges, reds, and browns as the leaves change colors. Propose in front of the castle itself or find a private trail to propose.

4. Edgewater Beach

Thanks to Cleveland’s location on Lake Erie, the city has a few different beaches only a few blocks from Downtown. Edgewater Beach is the easiest to access, and there’s plenty to do. If you don’t like sand, visit Edgewood Park’s northeast edge to propose on top of the boulders, or walk to the end of Edgewater Pier.   

5. Huntington Beach

Less than 30 minutes away from Downtown Cleveland, Huntington Beach offers one thing Edgewater Beach can’t: the Cleveland skyline ! The city skyscrapers are a charming addition to the rolling waves crashing on the shore. 

6. Cleveland Botanical Garden

The Cleveland Botanical Garden is one location you’re sure to have a gorgeous backdrop no matter what time of year you visit. With its pristine walkways and lovely lighting, the Cleveland Botanical Garden is a truly romantic place for your engagement. 

7. Public Square

Public Square is one of Cleveland’s most popular destinations, filled with manicured trees and lawns and surrounded by incredible architecture, including Terminal Tower and its observation deck ! Try popping the question on the lawn or visit one of the square’s many restaurants.

8. Bridal Veil Falls

For a more scenic proposal location, grab your boots and hike to Bridal Veil Falls. Bridal Veil Falls is popular for its stunning waterfalls and picturesque landscapes. 

9. Hope Memorial Bridge

The incredible Hope Memorial Bridge spans nearly 6,000 feet (more than a mile !) over the Cuyahoga River. Thanks to its location, the bridge offers an unobstructed view of the Cleveland skyline—a beautiful sight on a bright sunny day or at night when the city sparkles with lights. 

10. Kelleys Island

We’ll admit that Kelleys Island isn’t exactly in Cleveland, but it’s close enough to enjoy an unforgettable day with the person you love ! Kelleys Island offers plenty of ways to stay entertained—a casino, a brewery, a vineyard, a state park and more. Plus, with so many views, of Lake Erie, you’re sure to find the perfect spot to get engaged.
